And I would have responded, “best of luck to you”. To you, apparently not. I realize internal IR is preferable for aesthetic reasons. Originally Posted by mikedamirault. My other posts are responding to your attacks.

Looking for a possibly discontinued CIR receiver. Last time Newegg had the RC on shell shocker I bought 3 of them and keep them as spares, mainly for the dongle as I use Harmony ‘s or Harmony One remotes to control my systems in various rooms. I’ve been dealing with CIR protocols for nearly 20 years. My grandma isn’t very handy with a soldering iron. My other posts are responding to your attacks.

Your guy’s solution was a lucky guess.

Apparently it really isn’t the only one because I posted another that wakes from S5 as did you. I was done with this but really? But you took a different tact. It’s not a “black box”, Intel, ASRock, etc. BTW, ajhiebmy suggestion for getting the echo remote was not correct in that receier were no dongles but Recevier figured the OP needed a remote too because usually these remotes are sold with the dongle, most commonly the USB dongle.

So there is not even any difference in the physical layer. Take it or leave it. You sound like the kind of guy who would stop and ask for directions, get them, find your own shortcut, then drive back and call the person who helped you an idiot. Don’t take my advice because I don’t know what I’m talking about. The wheel was invented so long ago that we don’t even know who invented it.

Just trying to offer simple solutions.

CIR Receiver – how do I use it? | [H]ard|Forum

But there is no functional reason to box yourself into a needlessly complex, virtually impossible situation. To you, apparently not. I responded that you don’t have to go to all that trouble if one can’t be bought.

Basically all you had to say was “Sorry, I’m not sure what to do in this case, the best advice I can give is to get a USB kit”. AVS Forum articles Contests. You don’t need to do any of that.

I did a little searching on newegg for you and it looks like the cases they used to sell with the built in IR receivers are not there any longer asrok I know that they had them. I could have given you guesses too. Originally Posted by Onkyoman.

There was even on here a thread about modding a case to have the USB IR receiver mounted into the front of the case. They go straight to pins on the motherboard, just like recriver original CIR did. A simply IR receiver might have been all you needed, or it might have needed more components.
